Types of Intervention Programs
Drugs and alcohol are the poison of society. Addiction of alcohol and intake in excess is no less than hazardous effects of drugs. Not only the consumer suffers but the family suffers as well. There are several drug rehab and alcohol intervention programs available. But before choosing we must ensure that the program deals with the severity of the predicament. There are some things which need to be considered like cost, time needed for the treatment and most importantly the most appropriate treatment for the problem. The treatment can vary with the situation consider some of the examples.
A very short but very effective duration program is known as brief addiction intervention. This program is usually used with the person who is not addicted to alcohol but intervene with it occasionally. The person may be commanded or forced to attend alcohol classes and get educated about the hazards of consuming alcohol.
Another treatment which is widely used is detoxification. This treatment does not involve use of drugs. Detoxification is supervised in case of long term alcohol users. De-escalation is performed while safely monitoring the patient medical stability is tested and as soon as the patient is declared medically stable he or she can go home.
In some cases when the person is not totally dependent yet is mandate to join some therapy group. Individual counseling is another very good idea to avoid alcohol intervention. A non residential program which involves sixteen to twenty hours of group therapy is another intensive program.
